Firearms Storage Policy

We offer storage for firearms at a rate of £3.50 per week per item. We require you to sign a storage agreement that lays out the terms of storage with us, we will provide a copy for yourself as well. Firearms will be checked and oiled periodically. The storage agreement is detailed below. Additional details will be required such as name, address, firearms details and contact details.

Highland Small Arms Firearms Storage Agreement

By signing this agreement, the Customer confirms acceptance of the following terms and conditions relating to the storage of firearms.

 

  1. Storage Charges

1.1 Storage shall be charged at the rate of £3.50 per item, per week, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

1.2 Storage charges accrue from the date the item is received into storage and continue until the item is collected and removed from storage.

  1. Deposit

2.1 A deposit of £28 per item shall be payable in advance.

2.2 The deposit shall be held as a payment buffer and may be applied by Highland Small Arms towards any unpaid or outstanding storage charges as they fall due.

2.3 Any remaining balance of the deposit shall be refunded to the Customer upon collection of the item(s), provided all storage charges have been paid in full.

  1. Payment Terms

3.1 Storage charges are payable monthly in advance.

3.2 Payment will normally be made by recurring direct debit. Alternative payment arrangements may be agreed at the discretion of Highland Small Arms.

3.3 Where a payment is missed or late, Highland Small Arms will make reasonable attempts to contact the Customer and request settlement of outstanding storage charges.

3.4 Outstanding storage charges may be deducted from the deposit as they accrue. The deposit serves as a buffer equivalent to approximately eight weeks of storage per item.

  1. Exhaustion of Deposit and Transfer of Ownership

4.1 Where storage charges remain unpaid and the deposit has been fully utilised, the Customer agrees that ownership of the stored item(s) shall automatically transfer to Highland Small Arms without further payment or compensation.

4.2 Upon transfer of ownership, Highland Small Arms shall be entitled to dispose of, sell, or otherwise deal with the item(s) for the purpose of recovering unpaid storage charges and associated costs.

4.3 Any disposal, transfer, or sale shall be carried out strictly in accordance with applicable firearms legislation and licensing requirements.

4.4 The Customer waives any future claim or entitlement to the item(s) once ownership has transferred under this clause.

  1. Customer Responsibilities

5.1 The Customer shall ensure that all certification and licensing relating to the stored item(s) remains valid for the duration of storage.

5.2 The Customer shall notify Highland Small Arms immediately of any change in licensing status, address, certificate conditions, or eligibility to possess the item(s).

  1. Custody Status During Storage and Police Notification

6.1 For the duration of the storage period, the Customer agrees that the item(s) shall be signed into the custody of Highland Small Arms and recorded accordingly in the Registered Firearms Dealer records.

6.2 Details of the storage and custody of the item(s) may be provided to Police Scotland (and, where applicable, the relevant licensing authority) for the purposes of confirming the lawful location, control, and security of the firearms while in storage.

6.3 The Customer acknowledges and agrees that this notification and custody status is necessary to ensure that the licensing authority is aware of the location and control of the item(s) during the storage period.

6.4 Upon collection of the item(s), and provided that:

  • all storage charges and associated fees have been paid in full, and

  • the Customer remains lawfully eligible to possess the item(s),

the item(s) shall be signed back out of the custody of Highland Small Arms and transferred back into the Customer’s possession, with records updated accordingly.

6.5 Where the Customer is no longer legally entitled to possess the item(s), Highland Small Arms shall not release the item(s) and shall act in accordance with relevant firearms legislation and any directions issued by the licensing authority.
